Background
Prescription drug abuse—particularly opioid abuse—was one of the nation’s fastest-growing problems and is on the rise in Alabama. Both the Alabama Office of Prosecution Services and the Alabama Department of Public Health havehad vested interests in combating substance abuse but for different reasons. Stamp’s mission was to create a campaign to satisfy the goals of both agencies. The Zero Addiction campaign resulted in effective and memorable messaging which was then pushed out through a variety of media outlets statewide.
Reasoning
While the Alabama Office of Prosecution Services focused on law enforcement and crime prevention and the Alabama Department of Public Health focused on public health, both agencies had a goal of educating Alabama citizens about substance abuse and providing resources for treatment.
Challenges
The Alabama Office of Prosecution Services had previously developed a Zero Meth campaign. We developed a common thread that would tie the new prescription drug campaign and existing zero meth campaign together and be leverageable for future initiatives. In addition, with two state agencies as stakeholders, we needed to satisfy the specific needs of each agency.
Solution
By retaining the “Zero” element of the original theme and developing a universal brand, Stamp provided a flexible campaign that could be tweaked with imagery to apply to future campaigns, like the synthetic drug and heroin initiatives (which were subsequently developed by Stamp).
The user-friendly website offered brief facts about prescription drug abuse and provided links to educational resources as well as links to treatment centers organized by county and searchable by zip code.

Hard-hitting copy drove the radio spots and television spots utilized unexpected endings to create effective and memorable messaging that was pushed out through a variety of media outlets statewide.
Stamp also produced outdoor designs and collateral pieces that were available for law enforcement and other agencies to download for their own use from the Zero Addiction website.
