Constructing Branding Cohesion for JM Wood

There are many ways Stamp partners with clients, from projects and campaigns to acting as an extension of in-house marketing departments. Working with clients to create templates for their in-house team is a great way to ensure overall branding goals are met while utilizing resources to their best advantage. We partnered with JM Wood Auction Company to develop several templates for their in-house team to use in printed and digital efforts.

Auction listing booklets and catalogs

We set out to breathe some fresh air into a very complicated listing of information for buyers and sellers of heavy machinery. We simplified and reorganized templates to give them an overall cohesive look while making them easy for their in-house team to update. The project tasks included:

  • Developing multiple layouts for 3 different size print projects, along with designing self-promotion ads for the client to promote future auctions and other services
  • Providing InDesign working documents with extensive style selections for all typeface options
  • Providing a style and user guide for the in-house team to reference
  • Training the JM Wood staff on utilizing templates, along with training on the InDesign software

Website

The client wanted to consolidate information, improve user experience and modernize the design of JM Wood’s current website. Focusing on their target audiences of people looking to buy and/or sell heavy equipment, our goals were to:

  • Increase confidence in purchasing and selling through JM Wood by showcasing their extensive experience
  • Make it user-friendly by simplifying the online registering, bidding, buying, and selling process
  • Improve the responsiveness for any device the audience may be using
  • Promote the current “featured” auction and upcoming auctions

The client wanted to continue using their existing software platform, so we collaborated with the client’s current auction software developer as we began the redesign. Partnering with them included several meetings with the developers and the client to ensure we had detailed input on the previous user journey and desired changes. We provided Adobe XD files, Google fonts, colors, and updated content for the auction software developer and provided creative review during the development process. We also acted as a client activist to ensure the user experience was implemented correctly.

The result is a user-friendly site that simplifies the purchaser’s journey while allowing for preferred viewing options (ex. list or grid view, favorites, etc.). We expressed the existing branding in a clean, simple, ADA-friendly way.

Stamp also captured custom photography to use on the new website and social media.

Starting with a small-scale project like developing templates has led to building a wonderful relationship where the client trusts us to make their job easier by executing projects in a timely manner. Good work has led to more projects including geofencing and digital advertising. Check out our case study on how our social strategy for JM Wood led to great results.
